ACLS Class Requirements (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
*Please carefully review this list of mandatory class requirements *After reviewing this list, click on the link on the bottom of this page to complete registration *Please note - certification cards will not be issued if class requirements are not met
REQUIRED for both ACLS initial / full classes and ACLS renewals: 1) A current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification card to bring to class
Student must present a current BLS card at the time of class
Only BLS cards issued by American Heart Association (AHA) will be accepted
Card must still be current (not expired) on the day of class
2) A current AHA (2010 version) ACLS Provider Manual
Must be the current (2010) version
Must be by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Manuals may be borrowed or purchased from us or another distributer
3) Pretest completed prior to class and bring printout of results
Students will find instructions on how to access the pretest / precourse assessment in the 2010 version of the AHA's ACLS Provider Manual
Once completed, the pretest results must be printed out and brought to class
4) Review the "Core Cases" in the ACLS Provider Manual
ACLS maybe difficult to pass without studying the material prior to the class
Once you have registered and paid for an ACLS course with us, we will e-mail you an ACLS study guide, which helps students to know what areas need to be focused on while preparing for class
5) Cardiac rhythm recognition
ACLS students are expected to be familiar with cardiac rhythm reading, and able to identify the following rhythms: NSR, SB, ST, SVT, VF, VT, asystole, a-fib, a-flutter, and the heart blocks. ACLS students are not expected to interpret a 12 lead EKG.
ACLS class DOES NOT TEACH cardiac rhythm interpretation - ACLS students who cannot identify these listed rhythms will have a very difficult time passing the ACLS class
If you do not know the rhythms, or need help identifying the rhythms required for ACLS, we strongly suggest attending a rhythm interpretation class prior to ACLS - Click here to register for our Basic EKG Rhythm Interpretation & Pharmacology (ACLS prep) - it is a 4 hour course at our Conway Rd location, held every other Sunday 1pm- 5pm (beginning 11/06/11)
6) Renewal students only - current AHA ACLS certification card to bring to class
Student must present a current ACLS card at the time of class
Only ACLS cards issued by American Heart Association (AHA) will be accepted
Card must still be current (not expired) on the day of class
If ACLS card is expired, student must take the full course (AHA requirement)
